FAQ

BYOF stands for Bring Your Own Film.
We’re an independent screening event that takes place every two months, usually in Dublin City Centre, screening short films made by independent or emerging filmmakers.
We bring films out of the usual online spaces and onto the big screen, creating a space for filmmakers and audiences to meet, watch, and talk about film together.
-
Anyone and everyone can submit to us and attend our events.
At BYOF, we aren’t looking for experience or high production value; if you have an original film that you think deserves an audience, then we want to see it.
-
Nope. We accept everything from documentaries, experimental, music and fashion videos, etc.
-
To have space for as many films in our screenings as possible, we can only accept films of up to 20 minutes.
-
Submissions open at the beginning of every second month and remain open until the last day of that month.
Follow our social media and subscribe to our newsletter on Substack to be the first to know when submissions open!

We try to reach out to everyone in the days following the submission closed announcement. If you don’t get a response from us within a week after submissions close, feel free to email us, and make sure to check your spam.
Due to a high volume of submissions, we cannot, unfortunately, say yes to every submission. However, this does not mean we didn’t find you or your film absolutely fantastic—curation demands practicality. If your film is rejected, you can always submit again for one of our following screenings.
